On finding the song that makes you listen to the album

In high school I had a Really Cool friend who listened to Really Cool music and always talked about Really Cool bands and I never understood what he was talking about and never recognized any of the bands he would mention that would make my other friends nod and say "yeah” but I would still nod and say “yeah” anyway so I wouldn’t be found out for not being Really Cool even though I’m sure I wore it on my face.

But the one Really Cool sounding thing he did say that made me nod and say "yeah" and that has stuck to me forever was this: There’s always one song that you fall in love with so much that it forces you to listen to the whole album.

I like to think that’s true about people too. Once you find one part of a person that you love, you see the whole person for who they are. And once you fall in love with somebody, you suddenly care about all the other people in the world so much more.
